DAY SERVICES

The Association provides a variety of day services countywide. The person with intellectual disability and their families are referred to Kerry Parents & Friends through the HSE Disability Services Kerry and from there, through assessment and discussion, a mutually suitable service is offered.

RESIDENTIAL SERVICES

Kerry Parents & Friends Association does its utmost to meet needs of those requiring a residential service. All residential vacancies are referred to the Residential Placement Committee, consisting of a group of Agencies in Cork Kerry and HSE Cork Kerry, who prioritise those in need. The Committee meets monthly. KPFA is striving to increase its housing stock through its Approved Housing Body and it is hoped that it will progress through statutory regulation for housing within the next two years.

RESPITE

KPFA operates a limited Respite Service within the Association due to funding difficulties, however, the HSE has funded a Regional Respite Service for County Kerry and KPFA operates it from its Listowel base at Cois na Féile. Referrals for this service are made through the HSE.

HOME SUPPORT

KPFA’s Home Support Service is provided in situations where there is a need for urgent relief for carers or the person we support due to changes in circumstances. This is a reactionary service that strives to alleviate difficulties arising from ill health or other occurrence.

OUTREACH

Kerry Parents & Friends Association offers a countywide Outreach Service. Outreach is the activity of providing services to any person that might not otherwise have access to those services. A key component of outreach is that the provider is not stationary, but mobile. It involves meeting someone in need of an outreach service at the location where they are and providing a community based service there.
